flowers and dump trucks

I am lucky that I babysit two of the cutest kids in the world. I have known them since they were born, so it has been a treat to watch them grow into tiny 4-year-old and 2-year-old people.

Little Miss Zoe was a no-brainer here, since she loves pink and girly things, which is perfect for a flower girl. She already thinks she gets to be a princess in the wedding.flower girl

But Noah was a bit of a thinker. There are no good ring-bearer things, since weddings are a little girly anyway, and two-year-old boys like cars and throwing things. So I came up with a little dump truck, and went with the “carry” theme. Get it???ring bearer truck

a card for a bridesmaid

You know all those cute little “Will you be my bridesmaid?” cards you see now? Well, I want that. I like the idea of doing something a little special. Its a big deal to me to get married, so hopefully it is a big deal for my besties. (I have it in my head that everyone hates being a bridesmaid. I blame the movies. I think its totally awesome.)

Anyway, I always love the peachy pink Rifle Paper Co. ones when I see them. (Even though it totally says yo instead of you, right?)

But I wanted them like right now, and didn’t want to wait for the shipping, so I played around with a little sketch of my own with marker and stamps. This is what my half-done version looked like:

But then I realized that I could be a little more creative than that. Sometimes I spend too much time browsing at things that are already made, and I just need that one moment of thought to spur a good idea. So I came up with something that was more me. And it features one of my most favorite crafts! I will share it here soon, but I just mailed them and don’t want to ruin the surprise.

letterpress cookie cutters

I am a big dessert/baked treat fan (obvi). So I am looking forward to making a lot of treats for our wedding dessert table. My beautiful sister got me these amazing letterpress cookie cutters, and I tested them out the other day.

I was a little sad when I realized that I only have green and yellow food coloring. My wedding will not be Packers themed.

I think they turned out really fun! I love that each of the letters are different, so they look crazy cool when you group them together. Next time, I am going to try making them a bit thinner (even though I like a fat sugar cookie), and flood them with bright colored icing. A couple more tries, and I think these cookies have some definite potential.

the new-fashioned wedding

Ta da! My first wedding book (but not my last…). The New-Fashioned Wedding. And for reals, the book is amazing. So beautiful.

I definitely can’t afford to pull off the weddings actually shown in the book, but it goes through the inspiration and ideas behind the details that make up the wedding. Their style of fun, crafty, and thoughtful weddings gets my creative juices flowing.

I have been a little stressed out about the wedding lately. This book reminded me of the art, beauty, and originality that go into a wedding. Each one is special and perfect because two people are in love.

love stamps

This morning we looked at a wedding venue! Just to see. Because we are getting married. (I still can’t believe it sometimes.)

We don’t know exactly when or where we are going to get married yet, but I do know I want a more handmade, love-filled, meaningful, our-aunts-each-bring-a-pie type of wedding. I was browsing invitation inspiration, and came across some wedding stamps. The hand lettering on each of these is beautiful, and I love the handmade and unique result of stamping.

festive and bright

My mom, sister, and I made these for a little crafting experiment. I like the idea of a little fabric or paper banner for the wedding, so we tried out a couple tutorials we found to see what we could make. We used this tutorial for the little tissue tassels, and this tutorial for the big pom pom. I have seen some more tutorials since for the tissue tassels that might be a little better, and I have pinned them here.

I really enjoy the making and creating of things (obviously), so I am looking forward to more wedding projects to see what I like best!

pumpkin patch

This is the best pumpkin patch in the world. Rasmussen Farms in Hood River, Oregon. It’s a real pumpkin patch. Where you have to walk yourself out into the field of pumpkins and pick one for yourself. When you find the perfect one, you check it over, clean the dirt off with spit, and then rip it off the vine. Its pure fall and happiness.

If I had my way, I would get married in the middle of the pumpkin patch. It has breathtaking scenery, and smells like fresh apples. Everyone would wear boots, and the bridesmaids would wear braids in their hair.
