finished wedding scrapbook

I think I finally finished our wedding scrapbook! After figuring out how to add all the cards, I just added a few more embellishments and treasures to complete it. Now it has all the little love notes and sentiments from family and friends, as well as tokens from our big day that we’ve been keeping for years.

I used the scrapbook as a guestbook for our wedding, and our guests wrote little notes on notecards that I added to the book. We have some pretty precious drawings from our younger guests.

The album is 12×12, but I added some different sized page protectors to accommodate some larger keepsakes, like extra wedding invites. I also just hole punched some things, like our wedding programs, to add them in directly. I count this as a very successful scrapbook project!

a trip to the farmers market

We went to the farmers market downtown on Saturday morning. We had a very sunny taco and cinnamon roll breakfast, and then wandered around the vegetables. We were pleased to see that our cucumbers rival even the best local farms, and that we could sell the weeds that grow abundantly in our driveway for $2 a bag. We decided our imaginary farmers market stall would also have sage, rosemary, spinach, and loaves of sourdough bread.

We might go back next week just for more of those super cute little onions.

succulent saturday

Despite my best efforts, I don’t have a lot of luck keeping succulents alive inside. But this little guy was lovingly placed out on the back porch, and given almost no special treatment, and seems to be growing just fine! He’s even growing a couple little babies!

two good things today

1. I managed a trip to the grocery store before the holiday weekend! Going shopping before a big food weekend is always an ordeal. Its so busy, and you get there at the wrong time, they are out of key ingredients. But, I scored a handful of peaches!

2. Our first spinach harvest! I washed and dried it, and put it into bags of one cup. I am hoping to use it for some smoothies we have been wanting to try. And, we went out to the garden yesterday evening, and picked “all” the cucumbers. But, I found these ones this morning. So we are either blind, or they grew magically overnight.

Hope you had some good things today, and have a safe and happy weekend!

tales from the garden

There have been ups and downs in the garden. First of all, there was this bugger, who immediately became enemy number 1. So mean and selfish to eat the entire top of the green pepper plant yourself. But I am happy to say that the pepper seems to be growing some new leaves, so I’m hopeful he will recover.

Our cucumbers are still being rockstars. We have tons of pickles to make, and so many lemon cucumbers.

I think our squash plant got a little too moist, and encouraged some bugs to visit. He was doing so well, and then I found a bunch of holes in his stem, and his leaves wilted. I thanked him for his service, and now we have some pumpkins growing there, which I am excited about.

Finally, our spinach patch has really taken off. Its pouring rain this afternoon, but I’m planning to make the first big harvest soon. What shall I make with it??

two good things today

Today is already full of good things. I found one of my favorite breads at the store, and had some toast for breakfast. I also made some oatmeal raisin cookies last night, so maybe I’m just really into raisins and cinnamon at the moment.

And look who I found in the garden this morning- a blooming wildflower. I planted wildflower seeds last fall, and they are finally starting to believe its time to bloom.

Hope your day is full of warm toast and sunny flowers!

fairies in the garden

Most of our plants and flowers made it through all the rain like little troopers. I was worried since most of them are drought tolerant, but they just went with the flow and soaked it all in. (Get it? Rain jokes.) I added this fairy door and walkway to the rock garden a while back, and I think a resident fairy must have been maintaining it during all the flooding. Its held together by magic.
