Most of our plants and flowers made it through all the rain like little troopers. I was worried since most of them are drought tolerant, but they just went with the flow and soaked it all in. (Get it? Rain jokes.) I added this fairy door and walkway to the rock garden a while back, and I think a resident fairy must have been maintaining it during all the flooding. Its held together by magic.

granny square blanket
My latest granny square blanket! In the past, I usually just sew my squares together with needle and yarn, but I tried joining them with a single crochet this time. I know there are lots of fancy ways to join squares, so I figured I might as well start working my way up. I really love how it turned out, especially the colors. What are you working on lately?

panda cookies
Are these not the most adorable cookies you have ever seen? I took a picture of these before they went in the oven just in case something terrible happened in there, but thank goodness, they came out looking just as good. And they are even fully edible! Although I don’t know how you could eat one, instead of just filling your pockets with them.
new in the shop: cactus gift tags
The cactus cards are so popular, so I made more to go around in the form of gift tags. Wrap up a fun summertime gift, and add a sunny cactus tag. Find them now in the shop!
patchwork quilt
I love how this quilt turned out! All the fabric was found in my fabric stash, and I think the blues, greens, oranges, and blues work really well together. The back is made from a soft striped flannel. I finished it with little white ties in the center and corners of each square. Now only three quilts left to finish!
over the weekend
Guess what? It only rained one tiny time this weekend! We did our best to spend the sunny days outside, despite the best efforts of the mosquitoes. I’m really hoping they start moving on to greener pastures once it dries out a bit. We started the weekend with some breakfast tacos and donuts, and our garden rewarded our yardwork with a good harvest.
chocolate chip scones
There is always such drama when baking a new recipe. Is the bottom getting too done? Is the top done enough? Are they going to dry out if I leave them in longer? Luckily, this drama had a happy ending. I used this recipe, except I added mini chocolate chips instead, for cuteness.

planting a sweet potato
Have you ever tried to plant a sprouted sweet potato? I know its hypothetically possible, so when this one started to grow its own little leaves, we decided we might as well try sticking it out in the garden. We are trying this method, since all our available garden bed space is taken. So we’ll see how this experiment goes!
