A new bed for the puppy

So we’ve been meaning to get a new bed for Marley as her old one was getting a little raggedy after going through the washing machine a number of times and we were at the pet store this past weekend and found one! We are pretty sure she likes it given how much more time she spends in it. And she spent 99.5% of her day in her old bed to begin with.

The most entertaining thing about the new bed is that Marley now sits in a different position everyday because her bed came with a pillow that she can move around to her heart’s content to get comfortable. She lives a rough life.

We tried to make sourdough bagels, but they didn’t really turn out exactly as planned. I rigged up a proofing box out of a tupperware container, and they looked like little pillows until we tried to tear them away from their new friends. I think the dough should have been more dry. At least they were still good enough to eat! We are definitely going to get back up on that bagel horse soon.

chocolate peanut butter chip cookies

Sometimes I can have the strongest willpower ever. I can make dozens of cookies, and not eat even one (except for a bite of dough, for quality control purposes). Other times, I eat cookie dough by the spoonful, and its a miracle that there is anything left to bake. This was more of a lacking willpower moment, or, I was just providing really good quality control. But its chocolate and peanut butter, so I can’t really blame myself.

coloring books

I am real big on coloring. I entered all the grocery store coloring contests when I was little. I meticulously colored maps and reports all through school. My ma still prints out coloring sheets for me when I go home. Its nice to just sit still and worry about nothing but coloring sometimes.

It can be kinda difficult to find coloring sheets online, so I’m thinking about investing in some real coloring books. Here are some cool ones I found- bonus points to the ones where you actually learn a little bit too. Its always good to have random facts tucked away about quilt patterns, animals, the Book of Kells, and dresses made of flowers.

things that caught my eye/ fifteen

Some things I found this week:

If it doesn’t rain again, we are going to try to go kayaking, and do a little sunbathing to get rid of these obvious farmer tans we are rocking. Then our weekend will be filled with the normal things like mowing the lawn, grocery shopping, watching all the xmen movies in chronological order, and taking pictures of our plants.purpleflowers

polly does not want a cracker

Because this bird is made of felt, and is not that demanding. These little parrots took some time to make, but it was really fun watching them get pieced together. Plus they are super colorful and happy looking. The pattern is from this book full of bird crafts, because when their chirping wakes you at the crack of dawn, we have to be reminded that birds are still pretty cool.

sourdough/ week ten

We saw some really excellent looking focaccia bread at the store last week. I spent a couple minutes thinking to myself if sourdough focaccia was a thing, then consulted the internet, and the result was yes, it is a thing.focaccia3

I loosely based my focaccia experiment on this recipe here. It was mostly cloudy outside, so it didn’t rise as much as I was thinking, but there will be no problem at all putting it in our bellies. Put some pesto and cheese on this, and call it dinner.foccacia2 focaccia1
