Every once in awhile, I see an ad that’s targeting me “on the line” that peaks my interest. I have to say, this ad by a t-shirt company was pretty good as someone over there determined there were enough Sanders (with no “S”!) on Facebook to do an ad that speaks directly to us. The most entertaining part was seeing all the other Sander folks on Facebook liking the ad, although I’m not sure how many t-shirts they actually sold…

Orange is the New Bark: A great project by great people

I work with a number of great people at my job and Kathy Horn is one of them. Not only is she a top notch creative director but she and her husband worked on this great project that inspires folks to adopt pets from places like the Austin Humane Society.

I am a dog lover (in case you can’t tell by the pictures of my dog Marley here) and I think this is such a great idea to not only find a fun way to get people to adopt a pet that needs a home but also provides other organizations the ability to create similar videos for their own animals!

If you’d like to learn more about their project, you can visit their site Orange is the New Bark or check out their Facebook page to see some of the latest videos that are being created. And for your viewing pleasure, a parody video that can also be found on their site.

Beach-iversary Part 2

July has been a great month for the girl and I. One of the best parts was a beach-iversary that we took over a long 4th of July weekend. We did everything from eat ice cream twice a day to morning walks on the beach to hunt for sand dollars. Oh, and the girl made some amazing apple pie and cookies with her ma. It was epic.

Gigantic cucumber

One of the best parts about our backyard urban farm is harvesting the vegetables of our labors. The other day we were out checking on the crops and we found this HUGE cucumber that had been hiding from us for what must have been weeks. Luckily we found it in time and now we just have to decide if we’re going to eat him in a salad or turn it into gigantic pickles with the new crinkle cut chopper that the girl got recently.

A new bed for the puppy

So we’ve been meaning to get a new bed for Marley as her old one was getting a little raggedy after going through the washing machine a number of times and we were at the pet store this past weekend and found one! We are pretty sure she likes it given how much more time she spends in it. And she spent 99.5% of her day in her old bed to begin with.

The most entertaining thing about the new bed is that Marley now sits in a different position everyday because her bed came with a pillow that she can move around to her heart’s content to get comfortable. She lives a rough life.

A shade tree for us

It finally came! We had gotten a yellow flag placed in our yard months ago that let us know we’d be getting a free shade tree from the city and our glorious Texas Red Oak finally arrived! So of course we had to plant it. I can’t wait until it’s big enough for some welcome shade in our front yard.

Wedding car nostalgia

I was on my way home from work last week and this car not so gracefully cut me off to merge into my lane. I was about to get upset but I couldn’t because this car reminded me of the day I got married to the girl. It was the same make and model that I rented the weekend of our wedding and it’s the car that we first rode in as an officially married couple. So any white Toyota 4-Runners out there, feel free to cut me off any day!
