I’ve been traveling some for work recently and was in Denver last week and if you can believe it, there was snow in May! I have to admit that it was pretty fun to see snow since I am from Texas and all and don’t typically get to see snow that often. It was a little weird to see it in May though in such force.

making invites
So real talk: It took me a very long time to make our wedding invites. Now, I did choose something crazy, and I totally knew what I was getting into, but there were times when I thought that they I wouldn’t be done until after we were already married. They kept me up at night. I thought about them all day. But even though they haunted my dreams, I loved making them. The guy would leave me sweet little notes of encouragement on top of my supplies. They gave my hands something to do instead of worrying about weddings and stuff. I was a little sad when I finished them, because the time in my life when I made our wedding invitations in my every spare moment was now over. So here is a little photo timeline of our wedding invites in the making.

our save the dates
Things I learned about save the dates:
1. If you have an idea in your head of what you want, just go for it.
2. If you make them yourself, something will probably go wrong, and you should just remember that it would be a boring story if everything went perfect.
3. Sometimes it is cheaper to make something yourself, but you have to be willing to spend more time.
4. No matter how soon you send them out, you are already late (fashionably).
Basically, I searched the internet for over a month looking for save the dates that caught my eye. While there are gorgeous options out there, I really wanted something that was “us” (don’t we all).
Anyway, I doodle a lot at work to keep my hands busy, and one day, my doodles reminded me of the middle school notebook when you doodle a cute boy’s name all over it. I thought that might be a cute idea for a save the date.
So we spent an evening making little drawings and doodles. I spent about one movie making all the doodles into tiny pictures on the computer. We bought paper and envelopes from Paper Source, and some washi tape from various Etsy stores. We got into a big fight with our printer. We won. We mailed them only 5 months in advance, and no one freaked out too badly. And this was one of my most favorite art projects of all time.

i pre-ordered stamps
That’s right. Its like I don’t even know myself anymore.
I think I am almost finally done with our invitations. It will actually be kinda weird when they are done, because I will have to find something else to occupy all my time.
But anyway, I really wanted neat stamps for the envelopes. Like these cool groupings. But do you know how much old stamps cost? A lot more than new stamps. Thankfully, the post office actually has some pretty stamps! I pre-ordered these vintage seed packet stamps a while back, and they are gorgeous! I also like these and these. Who knew I would obsess over stamps someday?

Choosing a wedding tie
It has been a fun challenge to find the perfect wedding tie. I searched high and low until I found the perfect tie from a site that the girl found called Pierrepont Hicks. It looked to be a burnt orange color that was pretty close to matching some of our wedding colors, but we weren’t sure because we were looking at it on a computer screen so I ordered it in hopes that it would match! I got it the other day and it was not as burnt orange as we thought it would be which was a good thing because it ended up matching perfectly and helped me check another item off my to-do list, find the perfect wedding tie.
Easter morning
This morning I was greeted by the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls to kick off our first Easter morning in the same place! They were quite delicious. The girl and I both had a corner piece. On top of that we had some great Easter flowers that were recommended to me by the local florist person at our HEB since they were out of tulips.
Guy follows dog
There has been some buzz around this couple who takes pictures of the dude following his girlfriend hand in hand around the world as they travel. I took my own version while out on a walk and thought it would be funny to do the same thing but with my dog. The girl was quick to point out that they would most likely all look the same because Marley doesn’t get to travel much. Mainly because she doesn’t have a passport.
