About Chelsea

I am a small town girl. I came to Austin to study at The University of Texas, and a very handsome boy sat behind me in class. I love baking, sewing, watching movies, laughing, and willing my plants to grow.

I ripped this shirt apart more than once. The pattern is very long, and I should have tried it on before sewing on the gathered section (lesson learned). But I think I finally ended up with something wearable!

At first, I was a little nervous that it seemed too big all over, but it fits in the arm area, which keeps it from looking messy. The flowy look is also in right now, so I think it wouldn’t look too out of place if you saw it in a store. I’ve worn it to movie night with jeans, and felt super stylish.

guy and girl beauty

Our bathroom is kinda tiny. As much as I would like a giant shelf devoted to make-up and lotions, it does make life a lot less cluttered, and a lot more simple, when we share things. Here are a couple beauty products we both like: some natural black soap, and skin cream that was an especially big help during our spring yardwork phase!

wild

wildmountain

I just started reading the book Wild. I cried through most of the first part there, and I go through periods where she frustrates me, but I’m finding it fascinating. Its always neat to hear the opposite-of-expert guide. Of someone who just jumped into something with really no clue. Because I feel like I am constantly in that stage, and its nice to remember that everyone is.

And despite the gross parts about her feet, it still makes me really want to go hiking.

What books are you reading?

beach-iversary

Our first anniversary had two parts. Part one was the peach-iversary. Part two, the beach-iversary.

We hopped in the car on Sunday morning, with the most perfect Oregon coast weather over our heads, and bellies ready to be filled with ice cream. On Monday morning, that misty ocean fog greeted us, and we had the whole beach to ourselves. I can’t wait to bring back a pack of Sanders someday, and we’ll collect every piece of sand dollar, and make this handsome guy of mine rinse off the shells in the cold ocean water.

sleeping bag dolls

I have a little niece who is turning two, which gives me a perfect excuse to make a doll. My first choice would have required me to go to the store (boo), but good thing I had an equally good plan b picked out! We had a little animal version of these dolls when I was little. Did you ever have something like this? I think the little one will like putting them to bed, and then waking them up again, on repeat.

The original pattern wanted the dolls to be 8″ big. I shrunk them down by half, so they were twice as hard to make with all the little pieces, but will be twice as portable for little purses.

Now that the hairstyles are all sorted, time for bed!
