July has been a great month for the girl and I. One of the best parts was a beach-iversary that we took over a long 4th of July weekend. We did everything from eat ice cream twice a day to morning walks on the beach to hunt for sand dollars. Oh, and the girl made some amazing apple pie and cookies with her ma. It was epic.

beach-iversary
Our first anniversary had two parts. Part one was the peach-iversary. Part two, the beach-iversary.
We hopped in the car on Sunday morning, with the most perfect Oregon coast weather over our heads, and bellies ready to be filled with ice cream. On Monday morning, that misty ocean fog greeted us, and we had the whole beach to ourselves. I can’t wait to bring back a pack of Sanders someday, and we’ll collect every piece of sand dollar, and make this handsome guy of mine rinse off the shells in the cold ocean water.
Is this really our view?
How often does your actual hotel room look like the pictures on the website that you saw when you booked your room? I would have to say almost never which is why we were pretty excited when we got to our room and saw that it was 99.9% like the picture on the website. I was fairly convinced that the photo on the website was taken from our room’s balcony.

a floppy hat
I made just a couple key purchases for our honeymoon at the beach, and boy am I glad I did. I felt like a glowing newlywed who was spending the day lounging at the beach in style, and sometimes it just makes you feel even better to look the part. Before our trip, I really wanted a big floppy beach hat, and seriously, money well spent. It was one of the top 5 most awesome I have ever felt in my life. Here are some of my beach essentials:
- Nice, breezy linen shirt for a cover-up
- Colorful shorts
- Sunglasses
- Big beach hat
- Tinted moisturizer with sunscreen (skincare is no joke)
- Kindle (I usually like real books for the beach, but I needed to pack light)
I really want to wear my hat to work, so people don’t bug me as often. :)
beach to real life ratio
And….I have been plopped back into real life. Back to the normal work day routine. But as of this moment, we have been married for 9 days, and have spent 5 of those days on the beach. So we are still rocking a pretty awesome beach to real life ratio for our days as husband and wife. Let’s try to keep that up, shall we?
countdown to the beach
We are getting super duper excited for our upcoming trip to Hawaii! After all the to-do lists and rushing around in the last couple weeks, I think we are both ready to have nothing on our agenda except to lay around. And I got it in my head that I need to have a beach hat, obviously. Or else how could I possible relax properly?
