I am a washcloth machine over here. They are really easy to make over the course of a couple evenings, and don’t require too much concentration. I’m going to either have to start giving them away or stacking them up in corners of the house.
I feel like I’m getting fairly good at knitting dishcloths. My hand/yarn coordination is still a little rough (so if you have any tips/good youtube videos, please let me know), but surely I’ll get better with more practice. Now I want to try my hand at an easy knit hat pattern! Emphasis on easy. These two are cute options, and hopefully, very forgiving.
My knitting skills are coming along! I was having some trouble making the edges, and it turns out I was doing the yarn overs wrong! But after that mystery was solved, the edges came out much better on the second one. So decorative. Six more practice washcloths, and I’ll be knitting hats in no time.
I’ve finally started to learn how to knit. It took me about 5 tries to get it going, but my dishcloth is coming along. The two needles can be quite a handful. With a little more practice, hopefully I’ll be able to graduate to hats by cool weather season.
I made up this blanket pattern as a wedding present a couple months ago. I wanted to try something new, and also, someday their future kids will make a fort with it.
So far, I’ve only made granny square blankets. I hope to branch out soon, but when you are going off the grid, sometimes its good to stick with what you know. The flag is mostly straight lines, so that part was easy enough, but the star. The star was the tough part. It had to be a 5-pointed star. I needed it to be the right size. I think there was a large, sad pile of discarded stars after I was done.
I ended up following a youtube video for this star. I figured out to outline the star in blue, so I could sew it on without obvious stitch marks.
It crocheted up pretty quickly, so you still have time if you need another Christmas present idea!
I almost bought some candy corn at the store today. I like about 3 candy corns, and then my teeth start to cry. But they remind me of Halloween, so I still want them for decoration. We still need to get some pumpkins, and then we can get out the rest of the decorations! This year, I added some silly weavings to our Halloween collection. A black cat and a bright moon to hang on the wall.
Ta-da! My first crocheted scarf. It turned out pretty stellar, if I may compliment myself. I would totally be wearing it right now if it wasn’t reminiscent of a warm spring day outside.
I am not, by any definition of the word expert, an expert crocheter. But my ma helped me out semi-following these directions, and I got some help from this youtube lady here. After just a couple minutes of watching, I was crocheting so much faster than her (if you watch the video, this would be a joke).
It only took about an evening to make, so scarves for everyone!
I have learned to crochet a couple times in my life. But I never really got into it. Then we learned to make granny squares. Granny squares are my jam. Heads up everyone. Guess what you are all getting for Christmas this year.
