plants in da house

We bought a variety of indoor plants when we moved into our house. I am pleased to say at least 85% of them are still with us today. Including this here funky little plant below. I wasn’t sure if he was liking the winter, but he sure is showing his enjoyment of the spring sunshine through the window.

We were also trying to grow a little jade plant in a pot on top of our dresser, but he was starting to look sad, so I put him outside yesterday for some fresh air. As my luck would have it, we had a scary intense flash flood thunder wind storm in the evening, sooo hopefully he enjoyed his swim and is soaking up lots of sunshine today!

sourdough/ week eight

This week’s bread was oatmeal bread. The recipe made two loaves, and we decided to make both, and give one away. Unfortunately, while in the dough proof, one loaf stuck really badly to some plastic wrap, and the dough deflated some after I tried to gently remove it. So we graciously gave away the round, attractive loaf, and kept its less attractive, but still tasty, twin for ourselves.

I would also like to add that this bread was ginormous. Together, the breads took up an entire sheet tray.

fabric napkins

I started making some fabric napkins while my quilt fabric was in the wash the other week. I always think that we use too many paper towels, so I hope that having a whole bunch of fabric napkins on the table will help. Also, there is the pretty factor!

I originally wanted to do a running stitch along the edge (like these beauties), but a zig zag stitch added a nice bit of flare. I made a teeny tiny hem, so I think it will hold in place a little better this way.

So far, they are holding up well after going through the wash, and they add some pretty color to the table!

things that caught my eye this week/ eight

The guy pointed out that these three only encounter each other in real life as team mascots.beaverlonghornlion

Some things I found this week:

Yesterday afternoon, it was humid and warm outside, and now this morning, it was chilly and windy. So who knows what the weekend will bring! The hope is to do lots of yardwork. Our rock path is almost finished, and then we can start on our garden plans.

faux spring break

It’s always nice to spend a couple days back home. My vacation went by really fast, but we managed to make two kinds of pie, muffins, cake, cookies, crochet flowers, a doll, and some quilt pieces. We are pretty busy bees.

One of my very favorite things: my ma’s coffee cake.coffee cake

We were working to make these flowers into a garland. It will be adorable when its done.crochet flowers

longhorn nap time

This is a pillow for a little longhorn. One of our friend’s brought over a naked pillow. Her little guy uses it in the car, and it needed a cover. They are big Longhorn fans, so I added a big friendly face to some grey fleece, and sewed a simple pillow cover. Ready for lots of car napping, which I was excellent at when I was little.
