Couple from over the weekend.
1. Seven fat bags of leaves, and more to still be done. But soon I think the trees won’t have any more leaves to drop!
2. My bed crochet station, complete with Christmas shows.
3. A sneak peek at something snowy.
We picked out the most round ball of pine needles we could find. It is about as wide as it is tall, extra jolly, and I feel like this would be its theme song.
So we decorated that right up with all our plaid ornaments. It makes it extra festive while watching Elf 900 times on abc family.
We played tourists while we were in Houston last week. Our itinerary was thoughtfully arranged by Jon, and our first day included a trip to the art museum and bbq for lunch. We saw tons of gold, lots of Korean art, and stole peeks at the Monet exhibit.
We had no idea there was a Korean exhibit! But I was thrilled to see all these pieces displayed in Jon’s exotic home country of Houston.
The colors on these paintings is so spectacularly vibrant. Must have been good quality paint.
We wondered a lot about where you buy those huge gold frames.
And then I found my favorite work of art, and we had lunch together.
How was your holiday? We got up early to start dinner, spent a hectic couple hours in the kitchen, then napped, went for a walk, watched a parade, ate leftovers, and watched football for the rest of the day.
I was in charge of the marshmallows.
With that guy I am super thankful for.
A pinecone from our walk. We need more pinecones in our backyard.
Hope you had a wonderful turkey day!
So yesterday was my birthday, and we took a field trip to get some yarn. While we were in the store, we browsed some magazines, and look what we found.
Something I made is in a real life magazine! It is the winter Do It Yourself magazine from Better Homes and Gardens. We only bought 2, so there should be plenty left for you. And you can find my claim to fame here!
A couple weeks ago, I tagged along to one of Jon’s business meetings in Seattle. We were there for about 24 hours, and tried our best to keep count of every Starbucks we saw.
We got to our hotel pretty late in the evening, and missed our dinner time. So we ordered a massive amount of room service food and had a hotel bed picnic.
While Jon was doin business, I had about 4 hours to kill. I prepared by stepping into the map Friends style. (I swear we got this exact same map on our 4th grade field trip to Seattle. I have it in a scrapbook somewhere.)
I walked through the market, and as always, those flowers. What a beautiful job.
I decided to walk through the Olympic Sculpture Park. Also, this was the most beautiful fall day there ever was.
Once I walked a good long way, Jon saved me and we had some seafood for dinner. On the way to get coffee, we found a magnificent yarn store.
See ya later, Seattle! Next time, maybe we’ll actually take a trip up the Space Needle.
In our extra hour last weekend, we planted our winter garden, which we could also call our future salad garden. Lots of lettuce, kale, broccoli, onions, and cauliflower type veggies.
We interspersed the veggies with complimentary herbs and flowers. We had a bit of trouble with bugs last winter, so we are hoping the smell of the herbs confuses the bugs and they leave peacefully. And the flowers are for our friends the bees.
You know sometimes plants are a little wilty when you first plant them? I checked on them the next morning, and they all looked crispy and happy! It just rained for 2 days straight, so I hope they are off to a good start in their new home.
I think when you sign the papers for a house, there is an agreement that you will hand out candy on Halloween. So we did our civic duty, and obliged the princesses, ninjas, and firemen who knocked on our door all evening, to the dog’s great annoyance.
Once we felt our time trapped in the house was done, we took a walk around the neighborhood to check out the decorations. Over the last couple weeks, we noticed a certain house kept getting spookier and spookier, and we were excited to see its final reveal.
Then we settled in at home with a large piece of pumpkin pie. A perfect little Hallowevening for us.
It seems like I always get a bad cold right around this time of year, every year. I forget how much of a bummer it is to have a cold.
So I’ve been drinking tea, and trying to work on a quilt. I also forgot how much math is involved in quilt making, and how hard it is to do math when your head is fuzzy.
Aren’t these pumpkins the spookiest? They just get scarier as the pumpkins start to droop!
We carved our pumpkins last night. I am convinced that we are some of the most efficient pumpkin carving cleaner-uppers out there. Pumpkin carving can get really sticky, but that pumpkin smell makes up for it. Hope you have a wonderfully scary evening!
