About Chelsea

I am a small town girl. I came to Austin to study at The University of Texas, and a very handsome boy sat behind me in class. I love baking, sewing, watching movies, laughing, and willing my plants to grow.

inside office projects

I spent last week working in our outside office aka I did a lot of yardwork. The beginning of this week has been a bit warmer, and since the outside office doesn’t have air conditioning, I’ve been working inside so far this week.

I made croutons with some leftover sourdough bread. So good I have to resist eating bread cubes as a snack all day.

Working on a braided rug made of scraps of fabric from our wedding.

I made biscuits! I want to be a person that makes really good biscuits, and my guy makes the gravy to go on top. We are a good team.

Sometimes, you just want rice krispie treats. We like them a tiny bit stale, when the krispies are extra crispy.

And these flowers are in our neighborhood. The lady has the most beautiful wildflower garden. This is just the side of her yard, spilling out from around the fence. I want to write her a note and tape it to her door.

floral finds

Flowers are usually my first choice of doodle when given a blank piece of paper. Here are some fun floral finds to get in the spring mood: fancy flower and fruit ball cap, beautiful floral print hot pads for the table, a blooming scarf, and pretty lotion to add some flowers to your nightstand (after playing in the dirt and sun all day, gotta get some lotion on those hands!)

I also have some flower gift tags and cactus cards available in the shop, if you need to send some floral thoughts to someone!

frozen yogurt with birthday cake crumbs

We had one of the best long weekends ever over here. Our yard looks awesome, and I think I have a hidden talent for arranging rocks. But we started off our holiday weekend by preparing for one of the most important parts of any day, dessert.

I found a recipe for birthday cake crumbs in this cookbook. I love eating those leftover bits of cake, so I wanted to try it out. Love the colorful sprinkles too.

To go with our yummy crumbs, I made a batch of frozen yogurt. Frozen yogurt is about as hard to make as whipped cream. I don’t know why we haven’t made any before! A perfect dessert at the end of our hot days working outside.

a trip to the garden store

Our new favorite thing to do is go to garden stores. Not just because there are plants there, but because the layout and design of each nursery can be really inspiring.houstongarden2 houstongarden3

This nursery happened to have a huge warehouse full of trinkets. It was a mix of pottery, garden decorations, and American Pickers.

When we get our rock garden ready, I want to visit this succulent nursery in Austin.

easter shortbread

I love shortbread. Its simple. Its good. And in our opinion, it tastes better when its a couple days old, so its the perfect make ahead cookie. I also love decorating them, since you have to get creative. Any utensil is fair game for making designs.

For the Easter version of shortbread, we made sheep, bunny, and tulip shapes. I LOVE the sheeps. SO FLUFFY.

things that caught my eye/ ten

Some things I found this week:

I spent most of the week being sick/recovering, so I learned a new crochet pattern while laying on the couch. I am looking forward to being back to fighting shape, and enjoying Easter weekend! I have some fun Easter cookies to post tomorrow!
