Nothing makes me feel more domestic than a fresh batch of banana muffins. They smell like home.
These ones have walnuts and chocolate chips from my mom’s recipe. I have been trying to find like a banana oatmeal or something like that. Do you have any good banana bread recipes?
My ma has the absolute best collection of recipes. She has this little chest that is full of handwritten recipe cards from all kinds of family and friends. I loved looking through it as a kid. Not only are they great recipes, but there is so much history and love in those cards.
So for Christmas, I was lucky to get some items to start my own recipe collection! I have already written down a couple of my favorite internet recipes, and I look forward to adding more.

We were happily surprised by the gift of falling snow on Christmas morning. We didn’t even check the weather forecast, so we were all smiles when we looked outside.
After exploring the snow a bit, I warmed up with hot chocolate and turned my attention to under that tree. Wrapped presents are so pretty underneath the tree. I have to admire each one before I open it, so they know that I think they are pretty. But I try to imagine that they are just bursting with excitement for me to open them, because they know I will be so happy with what is inside.
It never fails, within five minutes of being home at my parent’s house Marley finds the best seat in the house and makes herself comfortable. Crazy dog.
I have a thing for maps recently. Maybe because I have the travel bug. But they really are beautiful, and make me appreciate that we are a small part of a big world. We finally decided to decorate our big wall, and hung a vintage style map right next to the tv.

We finally got a doormat. Which means we can finally let people who just walked through mud into our home. Thank goodness.
I know I am a lucky girl to have such a sweet boy. He surprised me with beautiful amaryllis measuring cups. Because he loves me. : )
