We’ve been playing with the new Hyperlapse app, and made this video of our breakfast tacos. We also had a great time making a video for my sister’s birthday. The app is very forgiving with scene changes, and makes everything look like its going smoothly, as opposed to tripping and dropping stuff. If you like videos, but have a hard time with editing, we would recommend giving it a try!

chocolate cream pie
Did you do any baking last weekend? We wanted to make a pie for the long weekend, and we finally decided on chocolate cream. I topped it with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, and it looked really pretty, but everyone was so eager to dig in that I didn’t get a photo. It tasted even better than it looked!
eat and wear
Eat this swirly chocolate frosted cake, and wear your hair wavy too.
so many biscuits
We’ve been testing different sourdough biscuit recipes. I wake up a tiny bit earlier, so I’ll have time to mix up a batch after our morning run. This part is crucial for controlling leftovers. No one in the office will turn down a warm, homemade biscuit first thing in the morning.
Our favorite biscuits are the super flaky ones, but we are still perfecting our ideal recipe. In the meantime, we need to stock up on more jam!
eat and wear
Eat this carob freezer fudge, and wait for fall in those shoes.
sourdough/ week thirteen
You know that cinnamon swirl bread with the raisins? I love that stuff. This is a little bit like a sourdough version of that. The dough has raisins and walnuts, then it is cinnamon-rolled up, and baked into bread.
The cinnamon-rolling process. I can’t resist a little taste of the cinnamon sugar.
In my head sometimes I’m like- this bread has to sit here for 30 minutes, so I might as well keep busy and make something else while I wait. Then all the sudden I am taking cookies out of the oven and trying to do 6 things at once while making a huge mess.
Can you see the swirl??
ghee
Have you ever tried to make ghee? Its basically a kind of clarified butter. You melt down butter, and take the milk solids out, so it makes a scoopable, super melty butter. A little bit like the butter in the tub, but better for you! We like to melt some in a skillet, and toast bread in it. Or make really toasty grilled cheeses.
We followed these directions here to make some. Try it and put it on some toast!
It does take a little while to make, so I usually catch up on some reading while its melting away.
brioche bread
One of our favorite dinners is bread and cheese. Now that we are planning a hypothetical backpacking trip, and going for daily runs to get in proper shape, its like we have to carb load to make it through the day.
I tried something new this week. Brioche, which is fancy, buttery bread. I used this recipe, but I ended up using almost 2 cups of flour. FYI just in case you want to try it! It made one perfect, golden loaf of bread.

rice krispie treats with tiny chocolate chips
Speaking of rice krispie treats, look what I made. One of my besties came over for a sewing lesson last night, and I always like to have some kind of fresh treat available. We currently have these cookies (a couple days old), this cobbler (starting to get a little soggy sad face), so we needed a treat refresher. I made the rice krispie treats fancy by adding some tiny chocolate chips to the top. Almost like a s’more!
On the subject of tiny things, we watched this documentary the other day, which is about the tiny house movement and living small. We noticed that they are called tiny houses, not small, not mini, but tiny. The tiny part is not interchangeable with another word for small. So we have been calling everything tiny lately, because its fun to say.
