first day of spring skirt

Its the first day of spring, but the weather is playing it cool and acting like its not a big deal. I think a thunderstorm is predicted for later. But our newly planted seeds need some water anyway!

My second skirt for the upcoming season is this floral creation. I’ve already worn it a couple times. The pattern is super simple, and I added a little roundness to the hem in the back. A perfect breezy skirt for when it finally decides to be springtime.

fun with felt

feltfun2

I took a half day off from fleece animals to try out some felt animals. Once I had a nice collection, I sent them off in the mail as surprises.

This was also one of those times when the crafting operation had to be moved to the floor, due to the table already being full. Its like having an upper table and a lower table.

new hats

I like to have multiple projects going on. If I’m making card kits all day, I need to take a sewing break. If I’m making a quilt, I need to take some drawing breaks. This also usually results in separate messes all over the room, but you can’t win em all.

My newest obsession is hat making. I made a hat, took it apart, and repeated that 4 times before I found a pattern I actually liked. I made a big pom pom for my hat, and Jon gets the green one, which I will gladly pom pom with his approval.

Hopefully it will stay cooler a little bit longer so we can take a cute picture together in our matching hats!

new in the shop: redwork holiday cards

I am generally a firm believer that each holiday has its time. This is probably because I have a November birthday. I like to celebrate my birthday, then Thanksgiving, and then it can be Christmas music time. BUT it is time to start thinking about any gifts you need to make. If you start those after Thanksgiving, you may not finish in time. Plus, working on gifts and crafts in these early evenings is sort of what fall is all about, right?

So by that logic, now is the time to begin working on these cards! I am really happy with these classic redwork designs. Those deer cards are selling like gingerbread cookies at Christmas, or hotcakes, whichever you prefer. Find them in the shop now.

wake up early: make banana bread and bulletin boards

I love mornings. The day is full of possibilities and so much time. The world is still quiet. And for some reason, waking up early on the weekends is way easier than waking up early during the week, probably because of the option of napping at 10am exists.

So I made some banana bread for breakfast. Nothing smells better than baked goods fresh from the oven.

While the bread was cooking, I decided to make some fabric covered bulletin boards. Super easy. Just cut out fabric, warm up the hot glue gun, and put those suckers together. Then we stared at our love notes while we ate warm banana bread.
