Our weekends are the best. This one included yardwork, bread making, and lots of laughing.
We were sitting on the back porch, staining pieces of wood for a project. The mosquitoes were eating us alive. We were talking about everything and nothing, and about how lucky we are to have each other. Sometimes I think about how we will someday look back on our newlywed days, and it will be the little moments like that we will remember.
This is probably old news, blah blah, but it was actually cold enough to wear boots yesterday. It was rainy and dreary and cold, and things that a fall day should be. I did yoga to warm up in the morning, and we had homemade soup and warm crusty bread for dinner. I hope it stays fall again tomorrow.
While the rain falls, I have been sewing up a storm inside. My shop should be filled with a whole new class of new guys soon!
I found this little guy on my walk in to the office this morning. Before I moved here, I always thought it would be fun to live in a place where little lizards were always roaming about. Now, I realize that wish isn’t all its cracked up to be, but my heart still does a little happy beat every time I see one. I had a big day at work, so I think he came out to wish me good luck!
One of the biggest perks of having a house is also having a yard. We love us some yardwork. We finally bought a shovel this weekend, so we added a couple of shrubs and some new raised garden beds to our family!
If you have ever tried to dig in Austin dirt in the hot season, you will understand why I now have blisters all over my hands. My goodness, it was like digging a hole in cement.
This week we went to Blue Star Cafeteria. We drank our coffee, and I was jealous of his cheese grits. (But he’s the best so he shared with me.)
This was a very selective harvest. It was also a test to see how many pear tomatoes can be eaten in one sitting. (Answer: all of them.)
And who doesn’t love when squashes grow to the size of a small (or medium) sized baby. There will be grated zucchini in the freezer for years.

We clipped some of these, and I brought them home to plant. I don’t know how they will do planted in a regular, boring pot, since they have grown accustomed to being so hilarious all the time.
I was on my way home from work last week and this car not so gracefully cut me off to merge into my lane. I was about to get upset but I couldn’t because this car reminded me of the day I got married to the girl. It was the same make and model that I rented the weekend of our wedding and it’s the car that we first rode in as an officially married couple. So any white Toyota 4-Runners out there, feel free to cut me off any day!

I like to imagine that my plants are happy to see me when I come home from work. Inside, they are like little puppies wagging their tails because I am, finally, home. We also have a silly puppy that does that, but I know the plants feel that way too. We are getting quite the collection of little green guys placed randomly throughout the house.
