After all that rain, our backyard grass is violently neon green. It grew out super long, but we were finally able to mow it last week. On our walks around the neighborhood, we’ve been noticing that everything looks so green and lush, instead of that end of summer thirsty look. Just in time for fall.

birthday treats
I like to show my love with baked goods. For our first birthday weekend of the season, we started with some fluffy biscuits for breakfast.
Next, we had some chocolate chip cookies for snacking.
And then we had our showstopper, a yellow cake with chocolate frosting.
And now we need to stock up on Halloween candy.
(long) weekend snaps
We took a holiday to celebrate a wonderful guy’s birthday yesterday. A couple from our eventful weekend.
We had to go to the mall for the first time in forever, and we were pretty excited!
Just as we parked at the grocery store, it started to pour. Good thing we stopped at the bookstore beforehand!
Birthday waffles! Followed by a birthday latte, birthday bbq, birthday pizza, and birthday cake.
guy’s fall wardrobe
I am eternally grateful that Jon has great style. I never worry about him dressing himself. Over the past couple years, he has managed to phase out most of his older, college frat-guy clothes, and replace them with very classic pieces that he can mix and match and always look put-together.
We usually go through our clothes every season and rotate/donate as necessary, but since everyone is doing these fall wardrobes recently, we thought it would be fun to do a guy version. So here is Jon’s fall wardrobe. It is 40 pieces total, including his shoes and accessories. Here is a snapshot, but you can click through the post to see all the choices!
It was pretty fun watching him carefully choose his wardrobe!
weekend snaps
Every once in awhile, I see an ad that’s targeting me “on the line” that peaks my interest. I have to say, this ad by a t-shirt company was pretty good as someone over there determined there were enough Sanders (with no “S”!) on Facebook to do an ad that speaks directly to us. The most entertaining part was seeing all the other Sander folks on Facebook liking the ad, although I’m not sure how many t-shirts they actually sold…

summer vacation
I took a little trip to see my family last month. Besides going to the fair, we spent a lot of time in the garden, checking on the flowers, baking cookies and muffins, and playing with fabric. A nice little summer vacation.
