headlines don’t sell papes
One of my most favorite movies ever is Newsies. I would watch it over and over again when I was younger, and I would probably do the same as an adult. I don’t know why I have never thought to be a Newsie for Halloween before. It seems like an obvious choice. Probably the hat was holding me back.
Here is a video of me attempting to throw newspapers in the air, a la a dance number. It is for my ma.
(Disclaimer: This is the first video I have ever attempted to make that isn’t photos, and I got really frustrated with it, so please forgive the extreme blurriness and overall poor quality.)
Also on Halloween, I made a pumpkin pie. With a real crust. Not the store bought kind.
Here is what newsie Chelsea thinks of pumpkin pie:
A sea of fluorescent lights
A pleasant way to spend the afternoon
My love of noodle soup
I love noodle soup. I especially love the Ramen soup you can buy at HEB for a quarter. I know that it’s not healthy for you at all, but there’s even been times that I ate it for breakfast. So you can imagine my excitement when I found this link on Buzzfeed for 22 Bowls of Warm and Cozy Noodle Soups. You can better believe I’ll be trying at least one of the recipes.
volunteer day
On the last sunny Friday, I was happy to volunteer at Zilker Park with the Entrepreneurs Foundation. It was so nice to spend the day outside using my muscles, rather than sitting inside at my desk. We helped rebuild the steps by the Nature Center. So if you are ever visiting the blind birds, and take a walk down the trail, please watch your step!

Yellow hipster birds only bathe in organic, fair trade water. (new in the Little Amaryllis shop)
ginger cookies
My soul is soothed by most molasses/ginger based cookies. The smell of baking cookies reminds me to feel very grateful for being warm and cozy, and to pray for those that are not so much. (recipe here)
