#JonLovesChelsea

One of the best ideas that we had for our wedding was to create and promote a hashtag that people could use to tag photos they took on Twitter and Instagram of wedding day activities.  We promoted it on our website and in our invitations and it was really great because we were able to crowdsource some candid moments behind-the-scenes at our wedding that we might not have been able to get since a photographer can’t be everywhere at once.

Wag your tail

You can always tell a dog is happy when they’re wagging their tail. Marley will wag her tail even when you just look at her, which is what she was doing below as she waited patiently for one of us to get up and take her outside.

*It’s an animated photo taken with my phone as I was playing with some of its camera settings.

Getting a grill…

Now that I have space for a grill outside now, I want nothing more than to get a super sweet grill. I’ve been immersed in researching what the best options are and I had to practice a lot of restraint when I walked into Home Depot over the recent 4th of July weekend and not buy the first one I saw which was hard to do when I walked into this….

Is this really our view?

How often does your actual hotel room look like the pictures on the website that you saw when you booked your room? I would have to say almost never which is why we were pretty excited when we got to our room and saw that it was 99.9% like the picture on the website. I was fairly convinced that the photo on the website was taken from our room’s balcony.

our white whale

This was our white whale. South Congress Cafe. We have attempted to brunch there several times over the past couple months. Each time, the wait was 2 hours or more. Sometimes, if you wait 2 more hours to eat, it becomes a different meal by then.

But we finally did it! Only a 30 minute wait. I got the migas, and I don’t know what they did to them, but they were sooo good.

backyard dreaming

We have really enjoyed having a backyard so far. It is such a nice refuge after a long day at the office. The fixing up comes in stages- first up were some pretty lights. We like to stare out and imagine what it will look like in a couple months. Next up- some flowers and a garden. It will be a fun summer project.

a floppy hat

I made just a couple key purchases for our honeymoon at the beach, and boy am I glad I did. I felt like a glowing newlywed who was spending the day lounging at the beach in style, and sometimes it just makes you feel even better to look the part. Before our trip, I really wanted a big floppy beach hat, and seriously, money well spent. It was one of the top 5 most awesome I have ever felt in my life. Here are some of my beach essentials:

I really want to wear my hat to work, so people don’t bug me as often. :)

beach to real life ratio

And….I have been plopped back into real life. Back to the normal work day routine. But as of this moment, we have been married for 9 days, and have spent 5 of those days on the beach. So we are still rocking a pretty awesome beach to real life ratio for our days as husband and wife. Let’s try to keep that up, shall we?
