finally “summer”

It’s finally cool enough for us to enjoy being outside, and we make sure to get out there as often as possible. We love looking for bugs in the garden, playing with the sprinkler, picking up rocks, and we’re just starting to figure out chalk. My truck drawings get oohs and aahs every time.

slithering snake

I made a snake for baby B to crawl around with. He loves to hold something in his hand while he moves about the house. The snake is fleece with a corduroy underbelly, has a rattle in the tip of the tail, and a crinkly tongue.

This is also the first thing I’ve successfully finished sewing in many months, so I was pretty pleased when it was done! (Even though it’s a real easy pattern… but the tongue took a couple tries!)

giraffe feet

These are Jon’s favorite baby pj’s- he thinks they just look extra cozy. We happened to receive multiples of them as gifts, so we own them in every size available. Baby B found his toes a couple weeks ago, so now it’s fun to watch him play with his own little giraffe feet.

baby’s first christmas

You will all be pleased to know that I finished his stocking with a day to spare! Unfortunately, baby’s first Christmas Eve coincided with baby’s first cold. But I know we will always remember taking turns rocking him back to sleep that night, and being the first ones up to see the Christmas sun and drink hot chocolate. Little guy was such a good sport about all the present opening and photos, and he made the holiday so special, runny nose and all.

I didn’t finish his first ornament in time to get it on the tree, but I did finish it in December, so I’m counting it. I embroidered his name and the year on the back, and it may even be the beginning of a little tradition of ornament making each year…

time for baby food

Our little guy LOVES watching us eat. He’ll sit at the table with us and just watch and smile in awe. We started by sharing tiny, mushed up bits of banana with him, and since then, we’ve also tried pears, pumpkin, zucchini, sweet potatoes, and brown rice cereal. A good chunk of it still ends up on his bib, but we think he’s getting the hang of it! We got one of those baby blenders as a gift, so it’s been fun to mix up different things to try!
