Doughnuts for breakfast meetings at work

The girl made these super bomb baked expresso glazed doughnuts this week and they were delicious. She was super nice and made extra ones for me to take to work and let me tell you, they were a hit! I had some early 8 a.m. meetings and they were gone within the hour. I think that the people at work found them to be a pleasant surprise and made an early morning meeting just a little bit sweeter. And to top it all off, they fit perfectly in the container like it was meant to be.

Playing the part of a christmas elf

One of the best part about the holidays is giving presents to people that you love. This year I decided to splurge a bit and get my dad (and my mom) something that I know that they’ve been wanting which was a new TV! I got a great price on it and it’s the best feeling in the world when you’re able to give your parents something nice, especially after all of the great things that mine have done for me this past year.

Another plus to this present was that I was able to appreciate the 18 hours of NBA basketball on Christmas day on a normal sized TV that I didn’t have to squint to see from the couch.

A new bed for the puppy

In an effort to make Marley’s life a bit nicer, we’ve retired the crate and I got her a new bed this weekend since she is a pretty good dog and doesn’t get into too much trouble anyways so it didn’t really make sense to have the crate out and taking up space in our living room.

As you can tell from the picture below, Marley has quickly taken to her new bed that I got her. Supposedly it has some sort of special fabric to help reduce the smell of dog so fingers crossed that it’s true! Since she’s had it, she has laid in it probably 75% of her time being awake so I’d say she likes it.

Also, are there other dog owners out there that wonder if this is what their dog does all day long while they’re at work? Because I’m fairly certain this is all that mine does while I’m gone.

Going to a happy new home

I really like this photo from the holidays because it’s funny and every time we mail a little critter that the girl sells on her Etsy shop, we always wonder what type of happy home it is going to. In this case, we know it’s a happy home because this little guy went home with my brother who just happens to love squirrels!

Creating a cool heirloom

I have been very fortunate to have been able to spend some really great quality time with my family this holiday break. Christmas was really great this year and I have to admit that two of my favorite gifts were not even official presents! My mom and I were talking about watches and she mentioned that she had a few old watches from my grandpa that she thought I might like and I was all over them. The two that I liked the best are below. One is an old Timex that is really cool and the other is an old Bulova that was an anniversary gift for my grandpa when he was still working which makes both of them have a lot of sentimental value. I’m really excited to take these into a place to get them restored and fixed up a bit so I can start wearing them and then hopefully be able to start passing them down in the future…anyone know of a good place in Austin to take watches to?

My year on Twitter in 2012

For those of you that are active on Twitter you should really check out Vizify. It’s a sweet site that came out a little while ago that lets you see what you tweeted about in 2012 in a visual infographic of sorts. It’s pretty interesting to see what were the most popular things that you tweeted over the last year. For me, my top three keywords were marketing, team and #HookEm. Check out my full year on Twitter here.

A note to Santa

This is a really great video done by some folks within the agency I work at featuring the Galaxy Note 10.1. I know that it’s a pure product promo, but I think it’s really well done and it reminds me a little bit of the Google Chrome commercials that tug at your heart-strings a little bit. And I’m a firm believe that Santa uses Excel too which is another reason I like this video. Santa likes to nerd out too!

Christmas Present #8

Christmas lights during the night and day

Has anyone else ever noticed that Christmas lights during the day just look like a huge mess but when they are lit up they are beautiful and awesome? My case in point is below from a recent trip to Mozart’s Coffee here in town.

A photo from the night the Girl and I got engaged when we stopped by Mozart’s first when it was still a surprise and it looks awesome!

The same lights but during a recent morning coffee run we took to Mozart’s. They look like someone just threw up a string of lights on the side of a building without untangling them.
