My soul is soothed by most molasses/ginger based cookies. The smell of baking cookies reminds me to feel very grateful for being warm and cozy, and to pray for those that are not so much. (recipe here)

pear donuts
I have already made pumpkin donuts this season. I wanted to make something else that was still fall themed, and I found these apple doughnuts with caramel drizzle. But then, I took out all the things in the recipe name, and made pear donuts instead. I love a good pear, and it was torture for me to wait for the pear to be ripe, and then save it for the recipe. I tried to make them for breakfast, but I had bad timing, so I had to make them for dessert. They were so good fresh from the oven. I think they would make really good muffins too, since they weren’t too sweet.
pecan pie in cookie form
Growing up, I never had pecan pie. When I moved down here, pecan pie was this big deal. I am still learning to fully appreciate the pie, but I can definitely get behind this cookie version. (recipe here)
jack o lantern cookies
I have been waiting almost a whole year to use these cookie cutters. After seeing all their little faces, it was definitely worth the wait.
donuts for fall
We had a little get together, and my gift for the table were these pumpkin donuts with pecans (recipe here). I am beginning to think that people only invite me for the treats.

when in austin: easy tiger
I have a major obsession with baked goods. I could stare (and smell) them all day. I don’t even need to eat them to appreciate them. That is why Easy Tiger is the best. They basically use the bread as art. Bonus points to them because you can watch them baking, and it also tastes as good as it smells.
rolo cookies
I have had these Rolo cookies in my cookie queue for a while now. They actually require me remembering to buy Rolos at the store, so they had to be patient. In the middle of making these cookies, my guy brought me some flowers, because he is just that kind of boy.
In exchange for the flowers, I gave the guy one of the chewy, chocolaty cookies. Ok, maybe he got two cookies because the flowers were oh-so pretty.
when in austin: farmer’s market
When you live in Austin, you must go to the Farmer’s Market, with your dog while still wearing your Saturday morning yoga clothes. You have to buy the kettle corn (because its kettle corn), sample everything, and buy some fresh veggies.
On this particular trip, we impulse bought a couple pickling cucumbers, and then impulse bought all the supplies needed to make homemade pickles.
And just in case you thought making pickles smells good- it smells like we should be wearing this.
